"A new list of occupations has been published, according to which foreigners in Russia can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner"
The new list contains 135 occupations in total. The last list of 2015 provided only 74 items. The list is compiled on the basis of “proposals of interested federal executive bodies of Russia”.
The new list has replenished with a number of medical occupations: obtaining a Russian passport will become easier for oncologists, bacteriologists, neurologists, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, cardiorematologists, otorhinolaryngologists, ambulances, palliative care doctors, anesthetists, rheumatologists, pediatric and pediatric surgeons, psychiatrists. In addition, the list includes veterinarians.
A simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship can be also claimed by: land reclamators, livestock specialists, fish farmers, tractor drivers, engineers, machine operators, entomologists, teachers, journalists, and so on.
In case the abovementioned specialists have been working in Russia for at least a year in their specialty while living in the Russian Federation, they can apply for simplified procedures, without a condition on the duration of stay in Russia.
The law which reduces from 3 years to 1 year the required duration of the term of work in Russia for a foreign specialist to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner, has entered into force on October 2, 2019.
