President of Russia Vladimir Putin has extended the deadline granted to foreign nationals and stateless persons illegally residing in the country to legalize their status or leave the Russian Federation. The new deadline is set for September 10, 2025, replacing the previous one of April 30.
According to the new rules, such individuals are prohibited from changing their place of residence without approval, leaving the region, driving vehicles, registering property and real estate, opening bank accounts, and conducting financial transactions. They are also required to appear at internal affairs authorities when summoned and to strictly comply with legal prohibitions.
Migrants who systematically violate these regulations risk being deported or placed in special facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs until expulsion.
Earlier, Russian Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated that 685,000 foreign nationals have been included in the list of monitored individuals. According to First Deputy Minister Alexander Gorovoy, the majority of those residing in the country without legal grounds are women and minors.
