The State Duma of the Russian Federation has passed three new bills aimed at improving migration policy.
"The work on improving migration legislation continues. Since the beginning of the year, seven laws on this topic have been approved. Currently, six more bills are under consideration, which are expected to be adopted by the end of the year," noted Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
Another bill proposes the possibility of extrajudicial blocking of websites offering illegal services to migrants or selling fake documents for obtaining migration status.
The third bill tightens liability for forging, manufacturing, or circulating fake documents for illegal migration. Fines for legal entities will range from 5 to 10 million rubles, and for repeated violations—from 10 to 60 million rubles, with the confiscation of funds used for the offense.
"Our task is to create effective legal mechanisms to combat illegal migration. Migrants are obliged to comply with Russian laws, be proficient in the Russian language, and respect our traditions," Volodin emphasized.
Earlier, the State Duma had already approved the first package of bills aimed at strengthening responsibility for organizing illegal migration.
Additionally, a law was recently passed closing loopholes for migrants using sham marriages and adoptions to legalize their status in Russia.
