The State Duma of the Russian Federation has approved bills aimed at strengthening responsibility for organizing illegal migration.
"These measures will help effectively combat illegal migration, tighten penalties for such crimes, and enhance public safety," said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
Another bill proposes treating the organization of illegal migration by an organized group or with the intent to commit serious crimes as a particularly grave offense. For this, the punishment includes imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years, fines ranging from 3 to 5 million rubles, and a ban on holding certain positions for up to 10 years.
Additionally, new measures are introduced for responsibility for forgery and distribution of fake documents, as well as for the fictitious registration of foreign citizens. For such actions, imprisonment for a term of 2 to 6 years is proposed.
Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that these bills are part of a package of measures to improve migration policy, which will be considered as a priority by the end of the year.
It should be noted that the State Duma of the Russian Federation continues to actively work on amending migration legislation: seven related laws have already been passed this year. Recently, a law was adopted closing loopholes for migrants using fictitious marriages and adoptions to legalize their status in Russia.
