A bill has been submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, proposing to double the tax rate on income, transport, and property for citizens born in Russia but holding citizenship in other countries, with the exception of citizens of Belarus, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia.
It is also suggested that increasing the tax rate for those who do not renounce citizenship of unfriendly countries could boost state budget revenues.
It is noted that these changes will not affect citizens who have lost economic ties with Russia and are tax residents of other countries.
Previously, the Russian government gave a negative review of the bill, pointing out that tax legislation should not be discriminatory and cannot consider citizenship as a factor for establishing differentiated rates.
