V Rossii Nachali Vydavat Elektronnye Vizy Inostrannym Grazhdanam

"According to the current Russian legislation, this visa is subject to a fee"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announces that the system for issuing unified electronic visas for foreign citizens has been launched in Russia. The system started operating on August 1 at 10:00 Moscow time.

As of today, citizens of 55 countries, including European countries, can obtain the unified electronic visa. Recently, the list was expanded to include Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, signed the order regarding this matter.

Vice Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova explained that the Russian government considered it inappropriate to exclude unfriendly countries from this list. She stated, "As a response to the unfriendly actions of official authorities of the states, we consider it inappropriate to exclude the possibility of obtaining a unified electronic visa for short-term trips to our country for their citizens." Diplomatic and official passport holders from unfriendly countries are not eligible to apply for the electronic visa.

The electronic visa is a single-entry visa with a validity period of 60 days from the date of issuance, allowing a stay in Russia for up to 16 days. This document permits entry to Russia for tourism, business, guest visits, as well as participation in cultural, scientific, economic, socio-political, and sports events. The cost of the visa is approximately 52 dollars (4,700 rubles).

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises that applications for the unified electronic visa should be submitted no later than 4 calendar days before the intended date of entry into Russia. The application should include a digital photo of the applicant's face and a scan of the page with the machine-readable passport data of the foreign citizen. No other documents are required to obtain the unified electronic visa.

The unified electronic visas are valid for entry and exit through automobile, air, and water checkpoints, as well as pedestrian border crossings. The list of border checkpoints is approved by the Russian government and has been updated several times since 2020, currently comprising around 100 crossing points.

The electronic visa is issued based on the application of the foreign citizen, filled out electronically on the specialized website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or through the mobile application available for download on the specified website.
