Moscow Court Fined Twitter And Facebook At 126 000 USD

"Justice court in Moscow fined Twitter and Facebook for refusing to transfer servers with personal data of Russian users to Russia"

 

Each company is assigned an administrative payment of 63 000 USD. The penalty must be paid within 60 days after the resolution is entered into force.

In December 2019, Vladimir Putin signed the law on punishment for violating the requirements for storing personal data of Russian citizens: up to 3 000 USD fine for officials and up to 94 000 USD for legal entities. For repeated violations, the penalty for officials will amount to 12.5 000 USD, for companies - up to 283 000 USD.
