The State Duma of the Russian Federation will consider a bill on the confiscation of property for organizing illegal migration

A bill has been submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation for consideration, providing for the confiscation of property for organizing illegal migration.

The proposal aims to amend the criminal legislation provisions on the confiscation of money, valuables, and other property obtained as a result of organizing illegal migration. For this purpose, the bill plans to amend Article 104.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Confiscation of Property," by adding Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Organization of Illegal Migration." Confiscation will apply to this category of criminal cases, provided the crime was committed for selfish motives.

Confiscation has a significant preventive potential. It eliminates the conditions conducive to committing the crime, making it economically unprofitable, stated the deputies.

According to statistical data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, there is a significant increase in crimes under Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In 2023, 1,941 crimes were registered under this article (+79.6%). From January to March 2024, 580 crimes were registered under Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (+75.5%).
