The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to extend the duration of stay for electronic visas. Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Evgeny Ivanov, announced that the ministry and other relevant authorities will propose to extend the permissible period of stay in Russia on an electronic visa in the autumn.
From August 1 to December 31, 2023, 170,000 unified electronic visas were issued to citizens from 55 countries. More than 90% of them were issued to citizens from China, Estonia, Germany, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Iran, Lithuania, and Italy. Evgeny Ivanov announced plans to expand the list of countries eligible to obtain electronic visas for trips to Russia after August 1.
Recall that the unified electronic visa, introduced in Russia since August 2023, allows a one-time visit to the country for tourism or business purposes. The visa's validity period is 60 days. The allowed duration of stay is up to 16 days.
An application for a unified electronic visa must be submitted no later than 4 calendar days before the intended date of entry into Russia. The application must include a digital photograph of the applicant and a scan of the page with the machine-readable data of the foreign citizen's passport.
The electronic visa is issued based on the application of the foreign citizen filled out electronically on the specialized website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or through a mobile application available for download on the specified website.
Unified electronic visas are valid for crossing the border by car, air, and water transport, as well as through pedestrian checkpoints.
