Members of the State Duma of the Russian Federation are considering the possibility of introducing a lifelong ban on entry into Russia for convicted migrants, regardless of the severity of their crimes. The draft law, prepared by the LDPR faction, envisages the expansion of existing measures to prevent the entry of convicted foreign citizens into the territory of the Russian Federation.
The draft law proposes to establish a lifelong ban on entry into Russia for convicted migrants, regardless of the category of the committed crime. The authors of the document note that former offenders from other countries may pose a potential security threat to Russian citizens.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation proposed to shorten the period of temporary stay for migrants in Russia and to introduce mandatory identification upon entry. The President of Russia also expressed the need for control in the migration sphere, instructing the development of additional measures to ensure compliance with the law. Additionally, a draft law was submitted for consideration, limiting the duration of employment contracts with migrants and introducing targeted recruitment of foreign workers.
