The Russian government has temporarily restricted the export of gasoline and diesel fuel from Russia in order to stabilize the domestic market. This decision was signed by the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin.
Authorities are discussing various measures to combat illegal exports, including creating a list of authorized exporters and suppliers for the domestic market. Earlier, Pavel Sorokin, the First Deputy Minister of Energy, stated that the Ministry of Energy of Russia had submitted a draft decree to the Russian government and the president's administration, according to which only producers would be allowed to export petroleum products.
Previously, to stabilize the situation in the fuel market, the Russian government increased the delivery standards for gasoline and diesel fuel to the exchange. In addition, daily monitoring of fuel purchases for agricultural producers' needs was organized, with the volumes being adjusted promptly.
In 2022, gasoline exports from Russia amounted to 5.2 million tons. In the first half of 2023, it reached 3.5 million tons, increasing by 30%.
The restriction came into effect on September 21st.
