"The Ministry reported that discrimination can be direct or indirect"

Direct discrimination is expressed in the fact that because of disability such people are denied employment, career guidance and training, or are taken to low-paid and low-skilled jobs. Indirect is expressed in the form of requirements that are formally unified for all, but in fact put the disabled people in an unequal position.

Examples of forms of discrimination include cases where employers:

  • demand requirements which exclude the possibility of disabled people to apply for the particular job;
  • do not create working conditions necessary for disabled people;
  • do not help to organize work for remote workers and homeworkers;
  • refuse to be transferred to a job recommended by the individual requirements;
    dismiss because of disability.

Recall, for discrimination companies faces a penalty in the amount of 50 000 to 100 000 rubles. The Ministry recommends employers to remove possible barriers, including through the following measures:

  • adapting facilities, equipment for the needs of disabled people;
  • providing information in an accessible form;
  • adjusting of work or training schedules;
  • replacing the workplace, transfer to the work at home;
  • appointing a mentor or providing other support.
