Rospatent Zaregistriroval 11 Geograficheskih Ukazanij V Kachestve Obektov Prav

"The department received 77 applications for state registration of geographical indications and the provision of an exclusive right to them"

The Federal Service for Intellectual Property has registered 11 geographical indications as independent objects of intellectual property rights.

“As of July 27, Rospatent has registered 11 geographical indications since the entry into force of the relevant law. Among them are Shuyskoye soap, Yeiskaya (in relation to therapeutic mud and a mud mask), Voronezh ice cream, Kuban (in relation to wines), Matsesta tea, Korean red ginseng, Trinity shawl, Kazy of Gorny Altai, Aginsky national costumes, Toyrobsho of the Agin Buryats and Maikop lemonade ", - the press service of the department informs.

The head of Rospatent, Grigory Ivliev, noted that in the civil legislation, rather strict requirements are imposed on the appellation of origin of goods, non-observance of which leads to refusal of registration.

Currently, in the Russian regions, goods are produced that, due to their geographical origin, have quality and reputation, but the designations accompanying these goods cannot receive legal protection due to various circumstances. It was for the registration of such designations that a new object of intellectual property was introduced - a geographical indication, Ivliev said.
