Rospatent plans to start issuing patents for inventions in a shorter time frame. Universities, research institutes and laboratories will be involved in the examination of inventions. Such a norm is contained in the new regulations for preliminary information retrieval and assessment of the patentability of inventions, which entered into force on August 1, 2021.
Now, institutes of the Academy of Sciences, research institutes, leading universities of the country and other organizations that have highly qualified narrow specialists on their staff will be able to connect to such work.
Rospatent will be responsible for their accreditation. At the same time, applicants will be able to use the preliminary information search service on a voluntary basis.
The cost of services will be determined by scientific and educational institutions based on the complexity, volume and duration of each information search, it is noted on the Rospatent website.
