The State Duma of the Russian Federation plans to add the column "nationality" to Russian passports. This was announced by Ildar Gilmutdinov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities.
Gilmutdinov said that several small peoples living in Russia would like to have a similar mark on their identity cards.
“Now we have adopted a law, a register of small indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East is being formed, and on the basis of this register they will be issued a document, that is, there is a decision,” Gilmutdinov said.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov made a proposal to return "nationality" to the passports of Russians. He stressed that this box should be completed on a purely voluntary basis.
Recall that on July 15, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin canceled a number of mandatory stamps in the passports of Russian citizens. Information on the conclusion and dissolution of marriage, children under 14 years of age, previously issued passports, available passports, TIN, blood group and Rh factor will be provided at will.
