SMI Obyazhut Upominat O Zaprete Terroristicheskih Organizacij

"The law will prohibit the dissemination of information about terrorist organizations in the media without indicating that they are prohibited"

The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the third reading a law that prohibits the dissemination in the media of information about an organization included in a single federal list, including foreign and international organizations recognized as terrorist, without indicating that they have been liquidated or their activities are prohibited. A similar ban applies to extremist organizations.

When mentioning such organizations and public associations, the media are obliged to put a label prohibiting their activities in Russia. Refusal of such a mark will face a fine of up to 2.5 thousand rubles. for journalists and up to 50 thousand rubles. for the editors.

We will remind that earlier the chairman of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Alexander Khinshtein pointed out a legal gap in this regard, because the public danger of terrorist organizations is no less than that of extremist ones.
