At a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, the head of the Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev, announced plans to transfer travel tickets into electronic format. Currently, a draft of amendments is being developed, securing the possibility of generating waybills in electronic form for the carriage of passengers and goods by road.
From January 1, 2022, amendments to the legislation come into force, securing the possibility of using electronic transportation documents in road transport by all participants in the transportation process. Electronic exchange of waybills through the state information system will be voluntary. However, at present, a project is already being prepared to establish, from 2023, the obligation to apply the above documents in electronic form.
The Ministry of Transport noted that the translation of transport documents into electronic format will minimize the personal requests of carriers to the authorities, which, in turn, will speed up the process of obtaining the relevant documents. It will also provide a reduction in transaction costs and lead to a decrease in the final cost of goods, since the cost of each product contains the so-called transport component.
