"You can apply for a quota from February 1, 2020"
In 2020, up to 60.270 temporary residence permits in Russia can be issued for foreign citizens. The corresponding resolution of the Government of Russia is published on the legal information website.
The quota size is fixed taking into account the proposals received by the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which were prepared on the basis of the migration situation and economic situation in each specific region of Russia. Most of the major quota for permits for temporary residence of foreign citizens in 2020 is set for Moscow, Omsk, Tula regions and Krasnodar Region.
The more quota is allocated to the particular region of the country, the higher the probability of obtaining a permit for residence. The exceptions are Moscow and the Moscow Region because of the many times more people applying for such permits which usually exceeds the quota allocated.
The number of foreign citizens who want to get a residence permit is growing every year, but the quota number, on the contrary, is decreasing. Last year, 83,480 quotas were issued for obtaining a temporary residence permit in the Russian Federation.
