The deadline granted to foreign citizens and stateless persons for legalizing their stay in Russia has expired — the corresponding decree was published on the official legal information portal.
Now, as emphasized by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, starting from September 11, 2025, the possibility of regularizing legal status is closed. For those who have not left the country or extended their stay, measures provided under the expulsion regime will be applied. This means a ban on re-entry to Russia, as well as restrictions on a number of rights.
The expulsion regime, which has been in effect since February, provides for violators to be included in the register of controlled persons and imposes serious restrictions on their lives.
If an illegal migrant systematically violates the prescribed rules, ignoring the established restrictions two or more times, they may be deported or placed in a special facility of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs until the issue of expulsion is resolved.
